hi, good morning, wjz. >> all right, good morning, matt, thanks for being with us, 25 now, 74% humidity, calm winds that barometer has moved up from yesterday's 29.59, to 30.04, high pressure has wedged in, we have lost the pressure gradient, a very very pretty day start, looks like a bad day, clouds move in later, that is warm air pressing in, we will talk about it in a second.
6:15 am
those are your currents in those areas. so here is this big dome of high pressure running the show. it is going to start funneling mild air up the corridor, which is going to define a good portion of this holiday weekend. that is where we are getting our clouds later on this day, no rain in the forecast, there it is, 44 degrees is going to be the high. clouds break up slightly overnight, 33. a mixture of a lot of clouds, some sun tomorrow with that mild air though a high of 54 degrees, we will keep it in the low 50s on saturday. new year's day the mid-50s again. monday 44, but tuesday a change comes our way. the daytime high just 32. the overnight low 18 degrees. welcome to january, welcome to winter in maryland. take it away, jess. >> all right, marty, thank you, now over to sharon at traffic control, sharon. >> hi, good morning, everyone,

6:17 am
history. it is an interesting job because it is tough because as you say in some ways you got to blend in and not be obvious but in other ways you got to impart information that people want to know at a certain time at the right time and you can't make a mistake and good to be here every single game. tough job but it is open. want to see how to apply for it? an entire generation only new rex barney as the voice of the orioles, after his death in 1997. >> good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls and welcome to oriole park at camden yard. >> reporter: dave mcgowan won an addition but it doesn't pay enough to be their only job. >> it is an hourly position so it is not something you are going to retire off of. >> reporter: recently mcgowan changed jobs from being a salesman to a 9:00 to 5:00 job and resigned the post. now the best seat in the house is empty. >> we need a new public address
6:18 am
announcer. >> reporter: but funny men, clowns cheerleaders, they might want to pass. >> this is a traditional ballpark and we want to keep that atmosphere here, so we want someone who compliments the atmosphere of the ballpark rather than someone trying to set the tone. >> if you want to be heard here you have to log on, the first cut comes after an audition at the website. >> ultimately the applicants will try out here live at camden yard. >> reporter: under 10 finalists will make it here to the audition. >> it is a tough job. >> reporter: pretty cool stuff, though, huh? now what they have on that website is they have a sample script and i sat and look through it and it runs a couple of minutes so you make an audio recording hopefully on your computer then e-mail it to them. if you want to do it the old- fashioned way they are accepting old-fashioned entries, orioles.com, you can find it, it is not that hard to do. but it is interesting, marty and jessica, you have probably down announcing in larger
6:19 am
stadiums from time to time, it is a weird deal the first time you do it because of the echo and you realize you talk slower than you might in real life, normally you might say welcome to oriole park in camden yards because that is how we normally do it but when you do it here in the big bowl you say welcome to -- you have to slow it down. it is cool. they say they are looking for a more traditional sound, who knows? maybe a woman is going to be the first announcer this time. that would be something wouldn't it? that is just me, the orioles have not said anything about that. >> on the orioles website i am trying to find that. it would be interesting to hear a lot of the stuff they are going to get -- >> oh, it would be -- >> -- departs -- >> -- what they are doing is -- they -- they -- they are trying to doe-because there is a

deluge, they are trying to listen to them as they go. and i said look, within the first 10 seconds you kind of know or you don't and they said yeah, so do a good job in the beginning and make them want to listen on through but it is a tough job, you got to be there for every single game and there are make up games and doubleheaders and it is your whole -- your late summer, early spring are done. >> you -- >> -- baseball fan -- >> -- yeah -- >> -- job but it is your job. >> here as the practice scripts, you got the announcement, good evening ladies and gentlemen and boys and girls and welcome to the park, etcetera. you have the starting line ups. >> yeah -- >> -- provide an oriole park experience for a group of children, etcetera, etcetera, jay cart would you love to go this job? >> i think it would be fun. i think it would be a lot of
6:21 am
work because you have to really love baseball. >> i don't disagree with you but, wow, man, jay cart, just read that, let's see how you sound. >> good evening, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to oriole park and camden yard. is that show enough? >> we will take it into consideration. all right, michael. >> yes, make sure you pronounce the names right, like nick markockus would not work. >> no, it would not, talk to you later. >> okay. >> pretty cool. >> it would be cool. if you are retired and you love baseball and you could -- you have the time, go for it. >> what is wrong with a little kid? let's think -- >> -- traditional -- >> -- really -- >> did you -- she was saying they want traditional. >> and i -- and i do understand. we are taking a break. coming right back. ,,,,,,,,,,
